This Chocolate Protein Oatmeal is like eating dessert for breakfast. So rich, creamy, and decadent but secretly healthy! This easy recipe requires just 5 ingredients and takes 10 minutes to make.
Who doesn't want chocolate for breakfast?
Maybe those who don't want a sugar rush, turned into a sugar crash, turned into a mid-morning snack attack leading you to eat whatever is in sight?
This Chocolate Protein Oatmeal is all of the good with none of the bad.
It is a creamy bowl of steamy, chocolate-y, luscious oats that are sweetened with natural maple syrup. They have enough protein and fiber to keep your blood sugars stable throughout the morning.
This bowl is a small slice of heaven where you can tuck into chocolate on a weekday morning.
And if there is one thing I love, it is dessert for breakfast. Like Red Velvet Overnight Oats, Breakfast Quinoa Rice Pudding, and Mint Chocolate Chip Smoothies.
But Chocolate Protein Oatmeal is more than just a sweet dessert, because have the breakfast MVP: Protein.
The protein in this oatmeal comes from whole food sources. If you like protein powder, more power to you. I think most brands are a bit chalky, gritty, and have that strange chemically sweet taste.
So instead of reaching for protein powder to amp up the nutritional content on this recipe, I turned to last weeks Chocolate Brownie Batter Hummus.
Hummus in oatmeal?!?!?!
Have I finally lost my mind?
That is still TBD, but this is not regular hummus. This is creamy, dreamy hummus that tastes like brownie batter. I eat it off the spoon straight, but when stirred into oatmeal, it is d.i.v.i.n.e. It adds a silky creaminess, big chocolate flavor, natural sweetness and a healthy dose of protein.
We also add in some chia seeds to our Chocolate Protein Oatmeal for some extra protein, nutrition, and satiating power.
And I am sure you are with the theme by now. Leading up to Valentine's Day I will be sharing plenty of chocolate recipes for you to choose from. It all started with last weeks Chocolate Brownie Batter Hummus, and the ball will keep on rolling.
It is hard work eating so much chocolate in the name of recipe testing, but someone has to do it...
And those cute little strawberry hearts, what a sacrifice.
Chocolate on Valentine's Day. And every day.
