Soft and buttery Gluten Free Garlic Knots are coated with garlic and herb infused butter and baked until golden and fluffy. The perfect side dish!

What is better than a buttery soft dinner roll? That is smothered in garlic butter and sprinkled with herbs? Then baked until pillowy soft, slightly doughy, and golden brown?

The correct answer: absolutely nothing.

Real talk: I did not believe that gluten free garlic knots were possible. Especially gluten free garlic knots that are also vegan and made with whole grains. Without sacrificing the tender crumb and buttery garlic forward flavor of a true knot.

But thank the good Lord that I am one stubborn Sally. Because after a few tries, I completely proved myself wrong. These knots are everything you want in a carby garlicky roll. The texture is perfect. The garlic flavor explodes and the herbs add another dimension of flavor.

And it all starts with a recipe we know and love, Gluten Free Pizza Crust. This dough gives the knots an airy texture instead of making them dense and hard like many other doughs on the market. Plus, it boasts whole grains, plenty of fiber, and no weird stabilizers or flour blends.

These Gluten Free Garlic Knots are a true labor of love. They take some time to come together with the rise time, chilling time, and baking time. But love is always worth it.

And the truth is that though time consuming, they are relatively hands off. So find a slow Saturday, put on your favorite apron, tell Alexa to play some tunes, and bake your heart out. You're sure to wow your family with these perfect knots for dinner.

Description

Soft and buttery Gluten Free Garlic Knots are coated with garlic and herb infused butter and baked until golden and fluffy!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 recipe Gluten Free Pizza Crust
  • ¼ cup melted Easy Vegan Butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 ½ teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Vegan parmesan, optional

Instructions

  1. Make the pizza crust according to these directions, but stop after the dough has chilled in the fridge. Do not form or bake the crusts. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and coat a muffin tin with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside.
  2. Once the dough has risen and chilled, divide it into quarters. Divide each quarter into thirds so you have 12 even pieces of dough. Roll a piece of dough into a log and gently tie it into a knot. No need to stress if it isn't a perfect knot, it will still taste delicious! Place the knot into its own cup in the muffin tin and repeat with the remaining dough.
  3. Loosely cover the muffin tin with plastic wrap and set it in a warm place to rise for 45 minutes to 1 hour, or until the knots have puffed up and almost doubled in size.
  4. Once the knots have risen, stir together the butter, garlic, Italian seasoning, and salt. Brush the mixture onto each knot and sprinkle with parmesan, if using. Bake for 15 minutes, or until the knots are golden. Remove from the oven and enjoy!
