This Blackberry Kombucha Vodka Smash is a light and refreshing cocktail recipe for summer nights! This low sugar drink is made healthier with kombucha.
When I go to a bar, I never know what to order. I know what I don't like, but never what I do like in a cocktail. My ordering blunders have landed me many a drink that I think tastes more like it's medicine than a cocktail. A gulp with nose pinched, eyes scrunched, and a sour look on my face. Apparently, this is not my best bar look.
I have recently changed my ordering game. When the bartender approaches to take my order, I give him the list of everything I don't like and tell him to bring me whatever is left. With my long list of don'ts (nothing creamy, I don't want to taste the alcohol but it can't be sweet, only gluten free liquor, and none of the pre-made mixers or sodas) it is a miracle that the bartenders just don't throw me out on the spot, but what I have actually found is that they are not only up for the challenge, but most have very similar tastes as well!
Through the help of some kind bartenders, I have narrowed down some of my favorite drink combos. I like things that are citrusy, gingery, or herby, with extra points for bubbles!
This Blackberry Kombucha Vodka Smash has three of those things going for it. It is herby, gingery, and bubbly. It's not overly sweet and a little bit fruity. I can cheers to that all night.
Our Blackberry Kombucha Vodka Smash is also what I like to call a healthy-ish cocktail. It is low in sugar and even contains some beneficial probiotics. Instead of adding sugar to sweeten, super fresh and ripe blackberries lend their sweetness to this drink. The ginger kombucha adds extra sweetness, great flavor, and those bubbles. Plus, probiotics. This has gotta be healthy, right?
I even like to enjoy this Blackberry Kombucha Vodka Smash as a mocktail from time to time. Okay, ALL the time. By the pool, with brunch, as an afternoon refresher... the list could go on and ON!
Without the vodka, it is similar to my Kombucha Sangria recipe, where fruit is added to kombucha. The fruit infuses the kombucha with flavor to make a delightful mocktail. It is bubbly, fresh, refreshing, and perfectly acceptable any time of the day.
Pour me another glass!
