This Fresh Christmas Potpourri is the best way to make your house smell like the holidays! This 5 minute recipe is made with real fruits and spices.

A silver pot filled with fresh christmas potpourri which is oranges, apples, cinnamon, cloves, allspice, and pine.

There is nothing like the smell of orange, apple, and spice to make it feel like the holidays. This Fresh Christmas Potpourri is warming, sweet, citrusy and bright.

All that sweet, sweet holiday smell is courtesy of real deal ingredients without any synthetic fragrances to be found! I tend to be sensitive to perfume or "fragrance" and avoid it when possible. Now that I am pregnant, I am especially wary of chemical scents and follow recommendations to avoid them.

I have found a few great candles and awesome bath bombs to get me through, but this Fresh Christmas Potpourri has been my favorite way to indulge in comforting holiday scents this year.

And the best part, Fresh Christmas Potpourri can be made with ingredients that  you most likely already have laying around the kitchen!

This is a recipe made for old fruit. When I have an orange starting to go hard or an apple starting to get mushy, it is the time to make potpourri! Of course, you can use ripe fruit if that's what you have on hand. But, instead of tossing past-its-prime produce, use it to infuse your house with the scent of the holidays.

Now that we have our fruit sorted, bulk spices are the way to go here. I buy cinnamon sticks, cloves, and whole allspice in bulk on Amazon. That way I always know I have plenty of them in my cupboard ready to go. Then I use them all winter long to make hot spiced wine, spiced apple cider, winter spiced facial steam and batches and batches of this potpourri.

The pine in this recipe adds a woodsy hint, but is totally optional. There are a dozen pine trees in my back yard, so snipping off a few sprigs is easy. If you live in a place where palm trees are more readily available than pines, you can totally skip adding this ingredient.

Once you have your ingredients added to the pot, you can simmer this Fresh Christmas Potpourri for hours. Just check on the pot occasionally and add more water as needed.

Enjoy those sweet Christmas smells!
