Ingredients and Substitutions:

  • Cashew sour cream - or store bought vegan sour cream
  • Caramelized onions
  • Vegan mayo - or use regular mayo (dip would no longer be vegan)
  • Chives - or parsley or omit
  • Salt and pepper

How to make french onion dip:

Caramelize the onions: Start off by slicing two onions into thin strips. Cook with 2 tablespoons of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Stir frequently and keep the heat low. Once the onions are deeply golden, almost brown, they are done. This takes anywhere between 50-120 minutes. Be patient, it's worth it!

Make the sour cream: Blend the sour cream in a high speed blender until smooth.

Stir & serve!: Roughly chop the caramelized onions and stir everything together. Serve with Dandy® Celery!

What to serve with french onion dip:

My personal favorite is hands down Dandy® Celery. They promise that their celery is naturally sweeter and crisper and I second that! Their celery's crunch is the perfect foil for the creamy dip.

Other dipping options are tortilla chips, potato chips, and other sliced veggies.

Storage:

Store the dip in a lidded container for 4-5 days in the refrigerator.
