What are the benefits of drinking apple cider vinegar?
Apple cider vinegar is crazy good for you…
- It contains probiotics which are good for your gut.
- All vinegar, including apple cider vinegar, boosts fat burning and are likely good for weight loss.
- It lowers blood sugar levels.
- Can ease heartburn/acid reflux (I can personally vouch for this!) and sooth digestion.
Ingredients and substitutions:
- Apple cider vinegar – a must! Choose a raw unfiltered vinegar.
- Fruit and/or no sugar added juice – the three included recipes use grape juice, cherries and blueberries, but go crazy! So many fruits go well in these drinks
- Spices – think ground ginger or cinnamon
- Stevia – for sugar free sweetness. You can also use maple syrup or honey.
Let’s make it!
Combine all the ingredients: add all the ingredients to a pitcher or blender, depending on whether used whole fruit or fruit juice.
Blend or stir: Blend if using whole fruit and stir if using juice.
Serve: Pour over ice and stir. Enjoy!

How to drink apple cider vinegar?
It’s important to note that there is a right and wrong way to drink apple cider vinegar. You never want to drink apple cider vinegar straight. It can be hard on you esophagus and digestive system. Not to mention it will taste gross!
When drinking ACV be sure to water it down until you can still taste the flavor, but it’s not so acidic that it’s difficult to drink.
After finishing your drink, it’s also a good idea to rinse out your mouth to prevent the ACV from sitting on your teeth.
Alternative Sweeteners?
My go-to sweetener for this recipe is stevia since it dissolves so easily, but you can absolutely make all of these apple cider vinegar drink recipes with honey or maple syrup.
If using honey, I recommend mixing it with equal parts hot water before adding it to the drink. It will dissolve much easier! For maple syrup, use as is.
Sparkiling?
Another fun twist is to use sparkling water! This creates a nice refreshing effervescence. Only use sparkling water if making these with juice. Blending whole fruit with sparkling water will result in a blender explosion.
Why make an ACV drink at home?
There are some brands of drinking vinegar at the stores, but it is so much less expensive to make at home! You can whip up your own apple cider vinegar drinks in less than 5 minutes, control the quality of ingredients and amount of sugar, and save money. Win win!
Leftovers?
Each recipe makes 4 cups. I’ve been known to sip my way through this in one sitting, but these drinks store well in the fridge.
Pour into a jar and place in the fridge for up to 5-7 days.

I wanted to switch up my lemon water game and made the blueberry ginger this morning. I can really taste the ACV more than anything else. I subbed 1 Tbsp raw honey for the sweetener, maybe I should add more? Or will I become accustomed to the flavor? I am excited to add this to my daily routine but the ACV does burn my throat a bit. So is the ratio always 3 c water to 3 Tbsp acid (ACV plus lemon or lime juice)? If I explore other flavors I just want to make sure I add enough to make a difference. Thanks for the recipes and the motivation to drink something better!!

Hi Ilene! All great questions. I definitely recommend making these to taste, adding more water to dilute the vinegar, or more honey as desired. ACV is incredibly healthy at smaller doses and you would still be getting major benefits if you reduced the vinegar to 2 tablespoons to 3 cups of water. Happy sipping!
Hi Laurel, can I replace the stevia with something else or no?
Hi Elijah, You absolutely can! Use a liquid sweetener that readily dissolves in water like maple, agave, and maybe honey. I would recommend sweetening to taste.
