I must confess, there is one secret to making perfect tahini caramel sauce and its all about the tahini.
There are two main types of tahini. There is hulled tahini and unhulled tahini and we are looking for the latter in this recipe.
Hulled tahini is made from sesame seeds after their outer layer or hull has been removed. This tahini is thinner and runnier in consistancy.
Unhulled tahini is made from whole sesame seeds - hull and all. This makes for a thicker tahini and a thicker caramel sauce. Bonus: the hull comes with extra nutrients! (This is the one I used for best results)

Ingredients
- ¾ cup unhulled tahini
- ¾ cup maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to a bowl and stir! Enjoy. Store leftover caramel in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
