This Easy Orange Sauce Recipe is packed with fresh orange flavor! It's sweet, sticky, subtly spicy and ready to jazz up dinner!

A good sauce has the power to transform any dinner into something great. This orange sauce is one of those sauces.

It has big fresh orange flavor thanks to a combo of orange juice and orange zest. It is perfectly sweet and sticky with a little kick from sriracha and ginger. Garlic and soy sauce round out the sauce with a savory note. Crave-able is an understatement!

Ingredients and substitutions:

  • Orange juice - preferably freshly squeezed. Or use a high quality refrigerated brand.
  • Coconut sugar - brown sugar or granulated work too.
  • Maple syrup - or another liquid sweetener like agave, honey, etc.
  • Rice vinegar - use unseasoned rice vinegar.
  • Liquid aminos - or tamari or soy sauce
  • Orange zest - really brings the orange flavor!
  • Sriracha - optional for subtle heat. Use more or less to suit your tastes.
  • Garlic - freshly minced only!
  • Ground ginger - adds a ginger note and subtle spice.
  • Corn starch mixed with 2 tablespoons water - to thicken the sauce.

How to make this orange sauce recipe:

Make the cornstarch slurry: In a small bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and water. Set aside. Give this slurry mixture another stir before adding to the sauce.

Simmer the sauce: stir together the remaining sauce ingredients in a small saucepan and bring to a simmer. Cook for 2-3 minutes until the sauce is fragrant.

Thicken the sauce: Remove from the heat and stir in the cornstarch slurry. Return to a simmer while whisking constantly. Remove from the heat and enjoy.

Storage:

Store orange sauce in a lidded container or jar in the fridge for up to 7 days.

For longer storage, freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw in the fridge overnight before using.

Can this orange sauce recipe be gluten free?

Yes! Just be sure to use tamari or liquid aminos, not soy sauce.

Ingredients
