I totally admire those people who can make coffee, flip perfectly fluffy pancakes, fry up some hash browns, and make a fruit tray, all while not burning the toast and getting themselves and their small humans to work/school on time. You go, magical humans. So much respect.
My mornings go a little more like mis-matched socks, the smell of burnt toast in the air, a lost shoe, trying to make coffee, trying to get a coffee stain out of my white shirt, pulling the charred toast out of the toaster, WHERE ARE THE KEYS?, and barely squeezing out the door on time.
I am a morning person, just not a get-ready person. Days when I can stay in yoga pants (okay, okay, sweats) the whole day are what I live for.
So, I try and do my best to minimize my morning routine, and I have to say, a quick breakfast is usually what I need to get out the door. When I think of fast breakfast food, I usually think of cereal. No prep needed, just pour, spoon, and repeat. Easy peasy.
But, it is a struggle to find a healthy cereal option that tastes good and doesn't cost 27 dollars for a box of 2 servings. I love making homemade cereal (exhibit A & B), but I can admit that it takes time and energy.
Then, this cereal entered my life. A raw cereal, full of fruits, nuts, and whole grains, that doesn't require any significant prep time, and tastes undeniably delicious. The weekday kind of cereal that can be poured into a bowl and covered with milk by any half-awake human.
Are you guys up for that?
This cereal couldn't be easier to make or serve.
Step one: We pour all the ingredients into a large mason jar (so hip, I know), and shake it together.
Step 2: Pour the cereal into a bowl, top with milk, and eat.
Now, thats a morning routine I can commit to.
This recipe makes enough cereal to get you through the week. I keep mine in the pantry in the same mason jar that I used to shake together the ingredients. I like to keep some on hand for rushed mornings and those nights when I don't feel like adulating anymore and just want a bowl of cereal for dinner. Please tell me you guys still do that too?
