Hot Honey has quickly become a pantry staple! Is is the perfect way to add sweet heat to any recipe. It is irresistible when drizzled on pizza, turns charcuterie boards gourmet, and great substitute for other sweeteners in salad dressings, marinades and more.

Ingredients and Substitutions:
- Honey - no need to use the most expensive honey here. Heating it to infuse it with flavor will negate some of the health benefits found in raw honey. Save raw honey for no-cook applications.
- Jalapeno peppers - or serrano, habanero, etc. for more heat.
- Red pepper flakes
- Apple cider vinegar - adds some needed acidity to balance out the sweet and spicy flavors in this hot honey.
How to make Hot Honey
Combine and simmer: Add the peppers and honey to a pot. Simmer for 5 minutes to infuse the flavors. Set aside off heat and let sit for 10 more minutes. Stir in the apple cider vinegar.
Strain and store: Strain out the peppers and pour the honey into jar or other lidded container. Once cool, lid and store in the pantry.
Storage:
Thanks to the preserving qualities of honey, this hot honey recipe will likely never go bad! I recommend checking it at the 3 month mark, but I have successfully stored mine longer. Store in the pantry at room temperature.

- 1 jalapeno, sliced
- 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- ½ tablespoon apple cider vinegar
Instructions
Add the peppers and honey to a pot. Simmer for 5 minutes to infuse the flavors. Set aside off heat and let sit for 10 more minutes. Stir in the apple cider vinegar.
Using a fine-mesh strainer, strain out the peppers and pour the honey into jar or other lidded container. Once cool, lid and store in the pantry.

Batch size: this creates a small batch. Feel free to double!
Storage: store in pantry for 3 months or longer. Honey is a natural preservative, so this has a very long shelf life.
