Veggie Supreme Pizza - a classic layered with tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, bell peppers, red onion, mushrooms and more! Vegan option!

Sliced vegetarian supreme pizza.

The veggie supreme pizza is a classic for a reason. Crispy golden crust, light and fresh tomato sauce, melty mozzarella, sweet bell peppers, zest onion, and sliced mushrooms are topped with oregano and basil for a pizza pie that can't be beat!

Reasons to love this recipe!

  • This pizza is endlessly customize-able! Use your favorite pizza dough, sauce and toppings for a one-of-a-kind pie.
  • Tips for creating restaurant worthy pizza at home!
  • The recipe is vegetarian and can be vegan or gluten free.
Pizza topped with mozzarella, olives, peppers, mushrooms, and onions.

Ingredients and Substitutions

  • Pizza dough - use your favorite store-bought dough, make your go-to recipe, or buy some from a local pizza place. If gluten free, this dough recipe can't be beat!
  • Pizza sauce - store bought or homemade. Mutti is my favorite store bought brand.
  • Mozzarella cheese - vegan, if desired.
  • Red bell pepper - or your choice of color.
  • Green bell pepper - a true supreme pizza classic.
  • Red onion - white or yellow onions work too.
  • Sliced mushrooms - a classic addition! Try white button, cremini, or portobello.
  • Olives - sliced black are traditional but other varieties like kalamata or castelvetrano are absolutely delicious!
  • Dried oregano
  • Fresh basil

How to make a Veggie Supreme Pizza

Make your dough: Prepare your favorite pizza dough. Form it into a 10 or 12 inch circle.

Top and bake: Spread on the pizza sauce, and layer on your desired toppings and cheese. Bake until the edges of the crust are golden brown and the cheese is melted. Add on any final toppings, like fresh herbs, and enjoy!

  • Pizza crust surrounded by toppings.
  • Assembled pizza on parchment paper ready for the oven.
  • Baked supreme pizza with olives and peppers.

Leftovers?

Store leftovers in the fridge for 2-5 days. Reheat on a 350 degree oven for 10 minutes or until warmed through. You can also reheat in the microwave.

More topping ideas!

  • Parmesan - try this vegan parmesan!
  • Feta cheese - for a nice salty bite.
  • Red pepper flakes - a pizza parlor classic that adds a nice spice!
  • Sliced jalapeños, pickled jalapeños, or pepperoncinis.
  • Any other veggies you'd like! This is your pie, feel free to make it your own.

Vegetarian vs Vegan Supreme Pizza

This veggie supreme pizza can be made vegan or vegetarian! For a vegetarian pizza, use regular cheese. This recipe is already free of meat and naturally vegetarian.

For a vegan supreme pizza, just swap the cheese for a vegan option. I like Miyoko's brand vegan mozzarella and all Violife brand cheeses.

How to Make Restaurant Worthy Pizza at Home

Craft restaurant pizza requires a lot of fancy (and expensive!) tools: a pizza oven, pizza peel, pizza cutter, and more. BUT, creating amazing pizza at home is possible with just a few simple tips, and no special equipment!

Instead of a pizza oven or pizza stone... use a rimless sheet pan, or even a regular sheet pan. Preheat the oven with the sheet pan inside so when the dough touches the pan it immediately begins to crisp up.

Instead of a pizza peel... use parchment paper. You need a way to quickly and easily transfer your dough to the hot sheet pan. Assemble your pizza on parchment paper so when the time comes, all you have to do is pick up the parchment and place it, along with your pizza, on the hot pan. Parchment paper is oven safe, so no need to remove it.

Instead of a pizza cutter... a knife works just as well!

What to serve with pizza?

  • A simple green salad with Avocado Oil Dressing
  • A fancy salad like this Shaved Zucchini Salad or Grapefruit Avocado Salad
  • Breadsticks or Garlic Knots!
